   Change of Address in India (Within the Same FRRO/FRO Jurisdiction)   refers to the process of notifying the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) of a new residential address when you move within the same jurisdiction. Foreign nationals residing in India for extended periods are required to update their address information as per the rules outlined by the FRRO/FRO.



   Why Is Change of Address Important?

   Documents Required for Change of Address within the Same FRRO/FRO


1.   Passport and Visa  : 

   - Copy of the passport (bio-data page) and visa page with current residential permit.


2.   Residential Permit (RP)  :

   - Copy of the current RP/RC issued by the FRRO/FRO.


3.   Proof of New Residence  : 

   - A rental agreement, a letter from the host/landlord, or C-Form from a hotel indicating the new address.

   - Utility bills or a letter from the police station verifying residence at the new address may be required.


4.   Undertaking/Request Letter  : 

   - A letter from the foreign national requesting the change of address, stating the reason for the move.


5.   Updated C-Form   (if applicable): 

   - For those staying in hotels or other accommodations requiring C-Form submission, this must reflect the updated address.


6.   Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)  : 

   - Not always required, but may be requested depending on the local rules.


   Process


1.   Submit Online: Through the [e-FRRO portal](https://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/), you can submit a request for a change of address. Upload all required documents.

2.   Physical Verification: In some cases, a physical verification may be conducted by the local police to confirm your new residence.

3.   Approval: Once verified, the FRRO/FRO will update your records with the new address.


 Consequences of Not Reporting a Change of Address


-   Fines and Penalties: You may be subject to fines or other penalties for failing to notify the FRRO/FRO within the stipulated time.

-   Future Visa/FRRO Issues: Non-compliance could lead to complications when you need to extend your visa, apply for other services, or leave the country. It could also affect your future visa applications for India.
